Meet the Counselor

Hello Joe Walker Students & Families,

We genuinely believe all students are capable of success in their own way. All students possess the ability to achieve if they are given the appropriate tools. These fundamentally appropriate tools are provided by families, teachers, school counselors, school psychologists and all other influential characters in a student’s life. Students should be constantly encouraged, motivated, and empowered by these influences, especially those in underserved and underrepresented communities. This is the prominent driving force in our devotion to becoming school counselors. We believe vulnerable students are not always represented well to thrive. The belief gap is nowhere near extinction due to the underproduced proper support students deserve. All students have the ability to achieve and have the capacity to grow if they are in an environment created to do so. This environment can be created by those who value equity and the abilities of all students by addressing close achievement opportunity gaps.

Joe Walker Counseling Vision Statement:

The students at Joe Walker Middle School are empowered students that have the social and emotional skills to become lifelong learners, productive citizens, and contributing members of society. All students achieve academic success, social emotional growth, and lead fulfilling careers attained by their passions and interests. They understand the challenges and expectations of the 21st century as they take on their future endeavors. All students embrace diverse experiences and backgrounds and seek to understand the perspectives of others.

Joe Walker Counseling Mission Statement:

The mission of the Joe Walker Middle School counseling program is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program that encourages all students to reach their greatest, long-term potential. We are committed to working with students, families, other educators and community partners to identify barriers to learning and ensure equity, access, and success for every student.
