6th grade Honors Academy Applications

April 15, 2024 is the deadline to mail in applications and still make the open enrollment window. We will continue to accept applications after the 15th, however, those sent in by the due date will be considered first.

Required Documents:

  1. Completed 6th grade Honors Academy Application
  2. Completed online transfer application
  3. 3rd Quarter NWEA MAP growth results (Family Report)
  4. Two most recent report cards:
    • 4th grade – end of the year
    • 5th grade – 3rd Quarter (distributed on 3/15/2024)

Transfers:  If you are on an inter-district transfer from another school district, you DO NOT need to go to that district for another transfer request. On the application form included in the packet, please write in big letters “ON INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER.”

In addition to submitting the application packet, you MUST also complete an online application. This can be done before or after you submit the application packet, but please try to complete this by April 15th. This online application is for the district, and must be completed with the 6th grade Honors Academy Application. You can access the transfer and enrollment page by clicking on the button to the left, but if you don’t see that, visit the district webpage at www.westside.k12.ca.us. On the district page, you can click the enrollment tab, https://www.westside.k12.ca.us/enrollment and then click on “2024-2025 Open Enrollment Transfer Application.” which is located toward the bottom of the page. You will likely need to create an account to continue.

In addition, students MUST complete the online Transfer request. That can be accessed on our district webpage (www.westside.k12.ca.us) under “Transfers” – complete the “Enrollment and Transfer Application for 2024-25.” Applications, the completed online Transfer request, and all documentation are due to Joe Walker between March 15 – April 15, 2024. There are a limited number of seats available for incoming 6th grade students.

How will applying students be selected?

Each student will receive instruction from a credentialed teacher in Math, Language Arts, Science, History, Physical Education, and Electives. 6th grade students will have access to the same electives, extra-curricular activities, and specialized programs as the 7th and 8th grade students.
